I grew up in a time when pre-packaged ingredients and meals were just beginning to appear. Mom & Dad did not care for those for the most part so I grew up eating fresh. When I lived in Mexico, my mother-in-law used only fresh ingredients. I’ve always felt fortunate to have been brought up this way, and use mostly fresh ingredients when possible. Of course, there are always exceptions.
